Man’s body left in Houston dumpster, suspect charged with murder

A 26-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection to the beating death of a man whose body was found in a northwest Houston dumpster.

Jewel Jamal Hayward was arrested on a murder charge Saturday and booked into the Harris County Jail on  a $100,000 bond, according to court records. Prosecutors asked a judge to deny him bail, records show.

He is accused of killing Shawn Palacios on Sept. 4 and dumping of his body in a dumpster inside an apartment complex at the 5600 block of Antoine Drive, police said.According to prosecutors, Hayward “beat (Palacios) to death and disposed of his body in a dumpster…,” records show.

Prosecutors said Hayward placed Palacios’ body inside a gray Rubbermaid container, used a dolly to roll it across the complex and then tossed the container into the dumpster.
