Shooting victim dies after friend drives him to hospital, Dallas police say

A shooting victim died after a friend took him to a hospital Saturday night in north Oak Cliff.

Police were called to the Methodist Dallas Medical Center about 8:10 p.m., after the friend drove the victim to the emergency room, authorities said.

The victim had no identification with him, so the Dallas County medical examiner’s office will use his fingerprints to try to confirm his identity, police said.

Authorities provided few details about the shooting, and a spokeswoman said it was unclear where it had occurred.

Police said they’d been told the victim had been sitting in the back seat of a vehicle at a car wash when someone approached and shot him through an open driver’s side window and fled on foot.

No suspects were in custody Sunday morning, police said.
