Houston man charged in stabbing death of Josue Flores makes courthouse appearance

A Houston man indicted in the 2016 stabbing death of an 11-year-old boy was escorted down the hallway of the Harris County criminal courthouse in handcuffs on Wednesday, declaring “I’m Grace Jones’ son, fox.”

The meaning of the statement is unclear.

Andre Jackson, 29, was in custody at the courthouse but didn’t appear in front of state District Judge Amy Martin during his first official court setting since a grand jury handed down a murder indictment Tuesday in the death of the boy, Josue Flores.

On May 17, 2016, the Marshall Middle School student was killed while walking home from school in the 1900 block of Fulton in his Near Northside neighborhood. He was reportedly stabbed some 20 times.

Jackson was first arrested on June 3, 2016.

On July 19, 2017 the Harris County district attorney announced that DNA evidence and blood analysis were inconclusive, and the charges against Jackson were dropped.

The indictment handed down Tuesday was the result of  improved DNA testing, DA Kim Ogg said.
