Stabbing suspect arrested in death of ex-girlfriend in DeSoto, police say

A 20-year-old man was arrested after his former girlfriend was found stabbed to death Monday night in DeSoto, police said.

Matthew Shane Gonzalez was arrested Tuesday morning in Irving with help from Irving and Dallas police, according to a news release from the DeSoto Police Department.

He faces a murder charge in the death of a 21-year-old woman who was found with stab wounds on her face and body around 8 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of Greenbrook Drive, police said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, died later at a hospital, police said.

Gonzalez was being held in the Tri-City Jail on Tuesday morning. His bail amount had not been set.
