23-year-old driving stolen truck dead after trying to elude police in Arlington

The 23-year-old driver of a stolen pickup was killed after losing control of the vehicle and flipping into a Kroger parking lot while fleeing police in Arlington Tuesday afternoon.

Tipped off by Irving police, officers in Arlington had been briefed to be on the lookout for the suspect, who was out on bond on charges of burglary and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, police said.

Police sighted a man they believed to be the suspect driving a white pickup around 2:05 p.m. and after running the vehicle’s license plates discovered that it had been reported stolen in Granbury.

The suspect attempted to elude police and lost control of the vehicle about 2:14 p.m. near the intersection of West Abram Street and South Bowen Road, striking a utility pole and two other vehicles in the supermarket parking lot.
