Expect a mild weekend before another cold front drops Dallas temps below freezing

This weekend in North Texas will be a nice one. Enjoy it while it lasts because another cold front is in the forecast for next week.

It should be dry all weekend, with highs in the mid-60s and lows in the mid-40s, said KXAS-TV (NBC5) weather anchor Keisha Burns.

Then a cold front is expected to move through North Texas late Sunday night into Monday morning, Burns said. That front could bring a chance of showers and storms to Dallas-Fort Worth, but severe weather is not in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.

“A rogue storm or two cannot be completely ruled out,” said Matt Stalley, a meteorologist with the weather service.

The front will be strong enough to keep highs in the 50s for most of next week, and also deliver a couple of freezes on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the weather service. Some North Texas cities could even dip into the upper 20s.

Although next week will be chilly at times, temperatures will be about normal for this time of the year. Typically in mid-December, Dallas-Fort Worth sees highs in the upper-50s, with lows in the upper 30s, according to weather service data.

Here’s what KXAS-TV (NBC5) has in the forecast:

Friday: 62/41

Saturday: 64/42

Sunday: 65/45; chance of rain

Monday: 52/43

Tuesday: 50/31
