Boy found fatally shot at apartment complex, Haltom City police say

A boy was found fatally shot Sunday afternoon at an apartment complex, Haltom City police said.

Haltom City and Richland Hills officers were called about 2 p.m. to the Rio Vista apartment complex in the 6300 block of Baker Boulevard after several 911 callers reported hearing gunfire in the area, police spokesman Matthew Spillane said.

When officers were checking the complex, they found a boy with a gunshot wound to his abdomen in one of the apartment parking lots, police said.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.

Police did not provide the boy’s name or age. Spillane told reporters Sunday that there was no information about any possible suspects.

Authorities interviewed several witnesses at the scene and are following up on leads, Haltom City police said.

No motive had been determined in the shooting, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting may contact Haltom City police at 817-222-7000.
