1 suspect arrested, several others flee as Forney police investigate car burglaries

Police have arrested one suspect after residents of a Forney neighborhood reported several car break-ins Tuesday morning.

Deshae Woodard, a 17-year-old Dallas resident, faces charges of unlawful carrying of a weapon and evading arrest, Forney police said, after the incident was reported around 3 a.m. in the Fox Hollow neighborhood.

Additional charges could be warranted pending the results of the investigation, police said.

When police arrived, multiple suspects fled, including Woodard, who was found with a loaded gun and taken into custody in the 1100 block of Citabria Street, police said.

The other suspects remain at large.

The incident stems from several reports from residents that their vehicles were burglarized, police said.

Residents of Fox Hollow should review any surveillance footage from around the 3 a.m. hour if they have security cameras, police said.

They can report their findings to Detective Mike Byford at MByford@forneytx.gov.

Anyone who has information about the incident should contact the Forney Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 972-564-7607.
