Richardson starts opening and setting guidelines for city facilities, plus updated coronavirus case numbers

As Texas begins reopening many of its businesses, an announcement on the city of Richardson’s website notes several key points in Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive orders.

  • Gyms, barbershops, tanning salons and nail salons statewide were allowed to reopen May 18. Occupancy is limited to 25%, and waiting customers must practice social distancing. Employees and customers are encouraged, but not required, to wear masks.
  • Additionally, gym equipment must be disinfected after each use, and people who are working out must wear gloves and practice social distancing. Shower and locker room facilities at gyms will not be allowed to reopen at this time.
  • Indoor swimming pools may reopen at no more than 25% of the capacity of the facility. Outdoor pools may reopen and have no more than 25% of the normal operating limits as determined by the pool operator.
