Man arrested on murder charge when victim dies 2 months after South Dallas shooting

A man is in custody on a murder charge following the death of a 50-year-old more than two months after he was wounded in a South Dallas shooting.

Kendrick Denard Rolfe Massingill, 36, turned himself in to authorities Thursday, police said.

Officers were called the night of April 1 to the scene of a shooting at a home in the 3700 block of Sidney Street.

Gary Jimison, who lived at the home, had been shot in the neck during an altercation between Rolfe Massingill and a third person, police said.

Jimison was taken to a hospital, and he died from his injuries on June 18.

Authorities obtained a murder warrant for Rolfe Massingill on June 25.

Rolfe Massingill remained in custody at the Dallas County jail Friday, with bail set at $150,000. He did not have an attorney listed in court records.
