Heat Advisory through Monday

s

Strong outflow winds from storms that developed in Oklahoma last night produced severe wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph across parts of Dallas-Fort Worth between 3 and 4 am early Sunday morning. DFW International Airport reported a wind gust of 60 mph.

But clouds gave way to more sunshine, heat and humidity by afternoon. High temperatures reached 100 degrees in the western half of North Texas. And of course, it felt even hotter, with heat index values between 105 and 110. A Heat Advisory remains in effect for North Texas through at least 8 p.m. Monday.

Take precautions to keep cool if you have to be outdoors during peak heating hours as heatstroke can be deadly. Remember to check on the elderly and keep your pets cool with plenty of fresh water.

The Texas summer heat will last throughout next week with highs remaining in the upper 90s to low 100s.
