Man charged with murder in shooting during fight at northwest Dallas business, police say

A fight between two men ended with one of them fatally shot and the other arrested on a murder charge early Saturday, Dallas police said.

Officers were dispatched to a business in the 3700 block of West Northwest Highway, near Lemmon Avenue, about 1:40 a.m. They found Jose D. Alcacio Rubio, 26, on the ground with gunshot wounds. Dallas Fire-Rescue declared him dead at the scene.

Witnesses said Rubio and another man, Hector Manuel Ledezma, had been fighting. Ledezma ended up shooting Rubio, then fled, witnesses said.

Surveillance footage showed Ledezma tossing away a handgun at another location, and police recovered a gun from that site, an arrest-warrant affidavit says.

Ledezma was found at another business not far away. After confessing to homicide investigators that he had killed Rubio, police said, he was arrested on a charge of murder and taken to the Dallas County jail.

He remained in custody Monday, with bail set at $500,000.
