Snow coming to an end

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for many North Texas counties including Dallas, Tarrant and Denton counties through 6 a.m. Monday. But in reality, the worst is already over. An inch of snow fell across parts of southern Tarrant and Dallas Counties, but only a trace up towards DFW Airport. There is still a chance of occasional flurries through the evening, but little additional accumulation is expected.

The good news is that temperatures remained above freezing, so most accumulation occurred on grass, car tops, and picnic tables. While roads may become slushy, they should not be too bad across DFW. Still, everyone needs to exercise caution, especially after dark, when we could see slush refreezing on some bridges and overpasses overnight.

But farther to the south and southwest a Winter Storm Warning has been in effect. ln those areas, 4 to as many as 8 inches of snow fell, and many roads are snow packed and very hazardous, especially between Stephenville, Comanche, Hamilton, Granbury, Meridian and Hillsboro.

Monday will be dry, but mostly cloudy and cold. With temperatures starting the day near freezing, some slush could freeze on area bridges early Monday morning.
