First of three cold fronts arrives overnight

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A parade of cold fronts continues to move toward Houston. The first front arriving overnight will clear out more of the clouds and bring back the sunshine. Temperatures will start in the low 50s Wednesday morning but only warm into the upper 60s during the afternoon.

The next cold front will arrive this weekend followed by a stronger cold front late next week.

It was especially spooky along the bays and streams this weekend as fog hovered over the region. Here’s a look from around Houston and beyond.

How many days will the sunshine stick around?

We should enjoy decent amounts of sunshine for the rest of the work week. A warm front arriving Saturday will bring back a mostly cloudy sky.

Can we expect any freezes behind the cold fronts this week?

At this time it appears that we will not get any freezing temperatures, but it is possible lows could dip into the upper 30s outside of Houston Thursday and Friday mornings.

When will the sea fog return?

The sea fog could return along with the warm front this weekend, so get ready for reduced visibility Saturday night and Sunday morning.

What else can we expect this weekend?

It will be mild, cloudy, and breezy Saturday as the warm front pushes in. There’s a 30% chance those clouds will drop some rain in your neighborhood. Sea fog could develop briefly Saturday night ahead of the next cold front. That front looks to arrive before sunrise Sunday, bringing back sunshine and highs in the low 70s.

Is there any chance of snow over the next 10 days?

There is a very low, non-zero chance wintry precipitation could blow into Southeast Texas with the stronger cold front late next week, but it’s way too soon to get excited. This weather system is still over eastern Russia, so there’s plenty of time to watch it. We’ll be monitoring the data trends carefully for you to get a better handle on just how cold it will get around the first weekend of February.
