Harris County Uniform Election results are in after polls close

In Houston, Texas, a Uniform Election took place in Harris County on Saturday, with Nov. 5 being a notable date for many voters.

The special election saw two Democratic candidates contending for a nine-month tenure in Senate District 15: Molly Cook, an ER nurse, and State Rep. Jarvis Johnson. Both are also vying for full terms in the district, with the contest to succeed John Whitmire scheduled for May 28.

Meanwhile, candidates vying for director positions at-large in the Harris Central Appraisal District included Kathy Blueford-Daniels, Ramsey Isa Ankar, Bill R. Frazer, Austin Pooley, Melissa Noriega, Kyle Scott, Janice W. Hines, Jevon German, James Bill, Amy Lacy, Mark V. Goloby, and Pelumi Adeleke.

Following Election Day, Cook emerged as the frontrunner for the Senate seat with 55.08% of the total 9,772 votes, while Blueford-Daniels led the race for Place 1 in the HCAD with 54.52% among 34,250 votes. In Place 2, Scott secured 41.15% of the 34,126 votes, and McCrutcheon led with 38% among 33,864 votes for Place 3.

Early voting for the election began on Monday, with voters able to cast their ballots at any location in Harris County until 7 p.m. on Election Day. Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth emphasized the significance of local elections, stating that they directly impact communities.
