Man arrested in West Dallas shooting that killed 41-year-old Sunday

Police have arrested a 31-year-old who they say admitted to shooting a 41-year-old in West Dallas on Sunday morning.

Police were called to the 1800 block of Bayside Street around 9:25 a.m. Sunday, where they found Kenya Chalmers injured from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers talked to Calvin Holmes at the scene, police say, who said he shot Chalmers.

Holmes was arrested and charged with murder Sunday. He is in the Dallas County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
