Storm chances ending late Thursday morning

The threat for severe weather is diminishing in North Texas as storms continue to push east of the DFW area with heavy rain and lightning. The strongest storms will be capable of hail and gusty winds.

Thunderstorms will end from west to east with a few lingering showers through late morning. Otherwise, clear skies will follow later this afternoon as dry air settles in behind a cold front.

Dry and mild weather is expected Friday through the weekend, although parts of East Texas could see some showers Saturday. Highs will be near 80 Friday and Saturday. Sunday will be a bit cooler with highs in the low 70s.
