NFL player and former Texas Christian University star Jeff Gladney faces a family-violence assault charge after he was accused of choking and hitting his girlfriend.
Gladney, 24, turned himself in to authorities at the Dallas County jail Monday and posted $10,000 bond a short time later. It was unclear whether he had an attorney.
According to an arrest-warrant affidavit obtained by KTVT-TV (Channel 11), Gladney and the 22-year-old woman got into a fight over text messages while they were in a vehicle.
The woman told police Gladney grabbed her hair, hit her in the abdomen and head, and grabbed her neck before she was eventually able to get free, according to the affidavit.
Gladney, a cornerback, was a second-team All-American his senior year at TCU and was selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. He started 15 games for Minnesota last season.
The Vikings said in a written statement that the team was aware of the arrest.
“We take this matter very seriously, as the reported allegations are extremely disturbing,” the statement said.
