June begins with a temporary break from the rain

The month of May finished with just under 8 inches of rain for DFW (3 inches above normal). This unusually wet stretch of weather will offer a brief reprieve today before resuming later this week. The latest round of heavy rain continues to push away from North Texas, leaving behind clouds and slightly cooler conditions this morning. The clouds should part later today allowing for some peeks of sunshine. The high will be near 80, which is several degrees below normal.

The dry weather later today will be temporary, as a few showers may redevelop Wednesday. Higher rain chances will return later in the week and weekend. DFW could receive an additional 1-2″ of rain later this week. Fortunately, the severe weather threat appears low most of this week.
