Stormy weather pattern to continue in to next week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) –We’re starting this morning off mostly dry, with just a few showers across the area. As we head in to the afternoon our rain chances will increase area-wide, and while today is far from an all-day washout, any storm that happens to pass over you is capable of bringing some heavy rain. Because our ground is saturated with moisture, any thunderstorm could create some street flooding.

Some of the really deep tropical moisture that’s been giving us so much rain lately is slowly pushing east into Louisiana. There will still be enough moisture left over for heavy rain this weekend but the storms will be more scattered.

How much rain has your part of town received so far?

What part of the area will be the wettest on Saturday?
The highest chance for flooding rains Saturday is from Galveston county, through southern Liberty and Chambers counties, then into the Beaumont area.

It sure has been raining a lot, hasn’t it?
Yes it has! We saw over 11 inches of rain in May at IAH. That accounts for more than half our rainfall total on the year.

Will the rain chances continue into next week?
Yes. There’s now a 70% chance for rain in the forecast Monday. Tuesday is at 60%, then 40% for Wednesday. We should finally dry out late next week.
