Tarrant County reports 5 coronavirus deaths, 61 cases; Texas adds 637 more cases

Across Texas, 637 more coronavirus cases were reported Sunday, including 624 new cases and 13 older ones that were recently reported by labs.

The state also reported 18 new COVID-19 deaths, bringing its death toll to 50,639.

Of the new cases, 584 were confirmed and 40 were probable. Of the older cases, 11 were confirmed and two were probable.

The state’s case total is now 2,953,238, including 2,524,212 confirmed and 429,026 probable.

According to the state, 13,001,359 people in Texas have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 10,581,993 — 44% of the state’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.

Tarrant County

Tarrant County reported five deaths and 61 cases Sunday.

Details about the latest deaths were not immediately available.

Of the new cases, 49 were confirmed and 12 were probable. The numbers bring the county’s case total to 261,262, including 218,580 confirmed and 42,682 probable. The death toll is 3,526.

According to the state, 888,030 people in Tarrant County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 739,872 — 42.5% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.

Dallas County

Dallas County officials no longer report new coronavirus data on Sundays. Figures that previously would have been reported Sunday will be released Monday.

As of Saturday, the count’s overall case total was 303,854 — 261,014 confirmed and 42,840 probable. The death toll was 4,071.

The average number of new daily cases in the county for the last two weeks is 100. For the previous 14-day period, the average was 144.

According to the state’s data, 1,185,027 people in Dallas County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 938,827 — 43% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully immunized.

Collin County

The state did not add any new cases or deaths to Collin County’s totals Sunday.

The county’s case total is 91,521, including 75,111 confirmed and 16,410 probable. The death toll is 835.

According to the state, 550,574 people in Collin County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 460,133 — 53.2% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.

Denton County

Denton County officials no longer report new coronavirus data on Sundays.

As of Friday, the county had a total of 76,279 COVID-19 cases, including 55,941 confirmed and 20,338 probable. The death toll stood at 596.

According to the state, 430,558 people in Denton County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 357,947 — 47.7% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.

Other counties

The Texas Department of State Health Services has taken over reporting for these other North Texas counties. In some counties, new data may not be reported every day. The latest numbers are:

  • Rockwall County: 11,699 cases (9,378 confirmed and 2,321 probable), 156 deaths.
  • Kaufman County: 16,319 cases (13,537 confirmed and 2,782 probable), 261 deaths.
  • Ellis County: 23,094 cases (19,090 confirmed and 4,004 probable), 319 deaths.
  • Johnson County: 19,997 cases (16,912 confirmed and 3,085 probable), 370 deaths.
