A storm system impacts part of the area tonight, pattern change on the way

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Another chance for some spotty showers and storms today, but it’s far from a washout with rain chances at just 30%. Tonight a storm system will drop south in to the viewing area, thunderstorms are most likely north of I-10. Models currently show the system holding north of Houston, but we’ll need to monitor it this evening to see how far south it brings rain. Isolated instances of street flooding will be possible especially since the ground has been recently saturated from all the recent rain.

As high pressure builds over the area this week, somewhat drier conditions will prevail. Isolated showers and storms will be possible through the middle of the week with drier conditions by the end of the week.

How much rain has your part of town received so far?

How much rain can we expect over the next 7 days?
For most of us, nothing more than a stray spotty shower or storm. The best chance for rain comes with the system moving through tonight, but that will primarily be for our northern-most viewers, and may not reach Houston. Beyond that rain chances really start to dwindle, just a 20% chance of an isolated shower or storm through the work week.

If there’s less rain, does that mean more heat?
Yes indeed, it’s getting toasty this week. High temperatures will reach the low 90s (on par with our normal highs this time of year), with the humidity bringing those feels-like temps to around 100 degrees.
