Quieter Wednesday, keeping an eye on tropical low in Gulf

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Tuesday’s intense thunderstorms have zapped a lot of heat and moisture out of the atmosphere. That means it will feel more pleasant out the door Wednesday morning with lower humidity.

High temperatures will still manage to soar into the mid-to-upper 90s, but your chance for an afternoon downpour will drop to just 20%.
We are also monitoring the Gulf of Mexico for potential tropical development. Heavy rains wrapping around this low could reach the U.S. Gulf Coast by Friday.

How long will this near-record heat stick around?
Temperatures will continue to soar into the upper 90s the rest of the work week. Our best chance to cool off will come this weekend when we could get rain from the tropical low in the Gulf. It’s looking more likely that we’ll at least get some rain out of it, especially Saturday.. Heat index values will easily top 100-105 degrees until the tropical moisture arrives.

What about that low in the Gulf? Will it bring us rain?
It is possible the low pressure in the southwest Gulf could bring us rain sometime during Father’s Day weekend, but it is still too early to know exactly how much rain we’ll get.
