16-year-old boy fatally shot in White Settlement while walking through neighborhood with his brother

A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot Wednesday morning while walking through a neighborhood in White Settlement with his brother, police say.

Police said the boy was walking about 4:45 a.m. with his 15-year-old brother in the 7600 block of Colton Drive, near Lockheed Boulevard and White Settlement Road, when a man driving a silver or white four-door car pulled up and accused them of trying to break into his vehicle.

The man then shot the 16-year-old in the chest and drove west, turning on nearby Ozona Avenue, police said. Three shell casings were recovered from the scene.

The teen was taken to a hospital, where he died. The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified him late Wednesday as Latroy Lewis, who lived in Haltom City.

White Settlement police said the brothers were staying with a relative at a motel less than a mile from where the shooting happened.

The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office and White Settlement police are investigating the incident. Police are asking anyone who lives in the area and has an outside surveillance camera to contact the White Settlement Police Department.
