Girl fatally shot in South Dallas apartment, police say

A girl was fatally shot Saturday afternoon in a South Dallas apartment, police said.

Officers were dispatched about 2:15 p.m. to the 3500 block of Dixon Avenue, not far from South 2nd Avenue and the C.F. Hawn Freeway, where they found “a female juvenile” inside a home with a gunshot wound, Dallas police said.

The girl was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Dallas police did not release the girl’s identity or any additional information. Police said they were interviewing witnesses and the investigation was ongoing.
