Body of 63-year-old man recovered from Grapevine Lake, officials say

A rescue dive team recovered the body of a 63-year-old man in Grapevine Lake Sunday afternoon, more than a day after the man went missing, reported KXAS-TV (NBC5).

The man had jumped off a pontoon boat about 12:30 p.m. Saturday to help someone who was swimming without a life jacket, according to NBC5.

The man did not resurface, Flower Mound Fire Department told the station.

Crews said they had searched Saturday and continued searching Sunday.

The man’s body was found about 5:15 p.m. Sunday, the Flower Mound Fire Department said. The man was not wearing a life jacket, NBC5 reported.

Officials urged everyone to wear a life jacket if they are on the water.

The recovery was conducted with the Texas Game Warden, Flower Mound Fire Department and Grapevine Fire Department.
