Rainy week ahead

Sunday has been a typical summer day in North Texas, with partly to mostly cloudy skies, a high of 93, and a few spotty rain showers and thunderstorms. Those showers should mostly dissipate by 10 pm, and it will be quiet overnight.

But the chance for rain increases Monday afternoon and evening. Showers and thunderstorms will be much more numerous. Most of us should see rain, but it certainly won’t rain all day. Some of the stronger storms could produce brief heavy downpours, along with lightning.

The overall pattern continues to bring rain chances throughout the upcoming week and into the holiday weekend. With a stationary front to the northwest, and a tropical wave approaching from the east, we will see daily rain chances.

The increasing clouds and rain will hold temperatures well below normal for most of the next week. But humidity levels will remain on the muggy side.
