A second suspect has been arrested in the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old during a gun sale, Dallas police said Monday.

Brenden Michael Etienne, 21, was booked into the Dallas County jail late Friday on a charge of capital murder in the slaying of Michael Contreras Kelly Jr. His bail was set at $600,000, and he did not have an attorney listed in court records.

Police were called about a shooting the night of June 28 in the 500 block of Cold Town Lane, near South Walton Walker Boulevard and Loop 12 in west Oak Cliff. Contreras Kelly was taken to a hospital, where he died.

According to an arrest-warrant affidavit, Contreras Kelly met with 21-year-old Nicholas Shykeem Levels and another man to sell a gun. Levels took the gun from him, and the second man shot him, police said.

Levels was taken into custody a short time later, after going to Parkland Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound. He remains at the Dallas County jail on a capital murder charge, with bail set at $500,000.

Police said the investigation remains open, and anyone with information may contact Detective Christopher Anderson at 214-671-3616 or c.anderson@dallascityhall.com.
