These North Texas cities are among the best places in the country to buy a family home, study says

Garland and Plano ranked fourth and eleventh, respectively, among the top cities in the nation in which to buy an affordable family home.

The annual study was released in mid-June by financial technology company SmartAsset.

The nation’s 100 most populous cities were evaluated in the study, which provided a final ranking of the top 25 places to for affordable, family homes. Some of the metrics evaluated in the study include property crime rate, high school graduation rate, affordability, percentage of homes with at least two bedrooms and property and violent crime data.

Both Garland and Plano ranked high in the affordability category as well as having owner-occupied homes with two or more bedrooms. In both cities, over 99% of homes have at least two bedrooms, the study states.

Seven other Texas cities made it into the study’s top 25 most affordable cities:
