Rain chance goes down but not out for the weekend

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — We are now done with the rainy low pressure system that dropped over a foot of rain southwest of Houston this week.
As the low pressure pushes into Mexico this weekend, it will tug the deeper tropical moisture along with it. This will drop our rain chance down but not completely out.

Saturday will start off with temperatures in the mid 70s along with some patchy fog and a few showers. The best chance of rain will come in the late morning to mid-afternoon when temperatures warm to near 90. Any shower that pops up could produce a quick 1″ of rain and frequent lightning.

How much rain fell this week?
Most in Houston picked up 3-5″ of rain, but the counties around Matagorda Bay picked up over a foot!

What should I expect for Sunday?
Sunday will be mostly dry and hotter with one caveat. Another summer front pushing down the Plains will send a line of storms through North Texas, and this line could reach communities north of Houston Sunday afternoon and evening. For Houston, we are expecting just a 20% chance of rain with a high of 92.
