Richardson likely won’t raise property tax rate, despite pandemic challenges

The Richardson City Council will holding hearings on the proposed 2021-22 budget and tax rate during two upcoming meetings.

A tax rate hearing will be part of the Aug. 16 city council meeting.

A hearing on the budget will be held during the Aug. 23 meeting.

Both meetings will begin with a work session at 6 p.m.

The 2021-22 budget represents a total property tax revenue increase over last year’s budget by $10,478,606 (9.17%). That amount includes $1,705,100 in tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year.

There is no change proposed to the current property tax rate of $0.62516 per $100 of taxable value.

Residents who wish to offer comments may attend the meetings in person or submit their comments online.

Both hearings are also available for live viewing on the city’s website at cor.net/CITV and on cable channel 16 for Spectrum customers and 99 for U-Verse subscribers.
