Band director at Keller ISD schools charged with exposing himself to children, police say

A Keller ISD band director is charged with exposing himself to multiple children, police say.

Jedidiah William Maus, 35, was arrested Friday and charged with three felony counts of indecency with a child. He was being held in the Keller jail. His bail had not been set, and it was unclear whether he had an attorney.

Maus was director of bands for Keller Middle and Bear Creek Intermediate schools, about 17 miles northeast of Forth Worth.

Keller police said they received a report last month that Maus had exposed himself to a student. An investigation identified a total of three victims, police said.

An arrest-warrant affidavit said that in one of the cases, Maus exposed himself to a male student in a bathroom, KXAS-TV (NBC5) reported.

The school district said Maus was placed on leave as soon as it learned of the situation. He was still listed as an employee on the schools’ websites.

Keller ISD said in a written statement that the district was cooperating with authorities but that it could not comment on personnel matters. The district said it would provide counseling for any students who need it.

Bear Creek Intermediate School encompasses fifth and sixth grades, while Keller Middle School is seventh and eighth.

Police are continuing to investigate, and anyone with information may contact them at 817-743-4600 or crimetips@cityofkeller.com.
