Chilly Sunday morning, pleasant afternoon

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — It was an absolutely gorgeous Saturday. Clear skies overnight will allow our temperatures to fall into the low to mid 40s. Southerly winds though will drag in some warmer air by Sunday afternoon bringing back the mid 70s to the area.

Will the weather stay nice for Sunday?

Yes! Light winds Saturday night will lead to even colder temperatures Sunday morning with an outside chance for some patchy frost in rural spots north and northeast of Houston. A southwest breeze will work with the sunshine to boost temperatures all the way into the mid 70s.

How long do we get to enjoy the sunshine?
Sunny weather will continue through Tuesday. After Tuesday, deeper moisture from the Gulf will bring back more extensive clouds and eventually a return of rain chances as we expect one or two more cold fronts to impact us toward the end of next week.

Is there anything of concern in the tropics?
Texas is normally done with hurricane season by mid-October. Chief Meteorologist Travis Herzog explains why in a Weather U lesson. We will continue to monitor the Pacific Ocean for any storms that could curve across Mexico and bring rain to Texas.
