Mesquite invites participants in Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade

The city of Mesquite and the Mesquite NAACP invites community organizations to register by Friday for its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. event on Jan. 15.

Participation in the parade — which costs $45 per entry — is open to any business, organization, church or school. Festivities will begin at 10 a.m. with a parade through downtown hosted by the Mesquite NAACP.

The city and Mesquite NAACP will co-host at 1 p.m. a community celebration with speeches, choir performances and dances at the Mesquite Arts Center, 1527 N. Galloway Ave.
