Eva Mireles was fatally shot Tuesday, May 24, 2022, in a mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

The two had been co-teachers for five years, Eva’s biography on the school’s website said.

Her family said in her obituary that Eva was “an outstanding wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, and educator.”

“Eva dedicated herself to her wonderful family and amazing students,” her obituary reads. “Her smile and personality never went unnoticed as when she was around, it was never a dull moment.”

She loved CrossFit, hiking, running and spending time with her dog, Kane, her family said.

In a tribute posted on Twitter, Eva’s daughter, Adalynn, thanked her mother for loving her “in the best ways” and raising her to be strong.

“I will forever say your name, Eva Mireles, 4th grade teacher at Robb Elementary who selflessly jumped in front of her students to save their lives,” she wrote. “My heart will forever be broken. My bestfriend, my twin, was taken from me.”

Eva is survived by her mother, stepfather, two sisters, her daughter and her husband, who is a police officer with the school district.

Services for the 21 victims of the shooting are scheduled through the end of the month.
