3 dead after boat overturns in Lake Lavon

Three men died after a boat overturned Saturday in Lake Lavon, authorities said.

The Collin County Sheriff’s Department said a strong storm caused the boat to overturn about 8:45 p.m. near Brockdale Park. Four men were aboard the boat, and one was able to hold on to a tree and call for help, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The sheriff’s office identified the victims as 60-year old Jose Maria Dominguez, 34-year old Julio Bibiano-Gonzalez, and 30-year old Rafael Bibiano-Olea. All three men were Plano residents, the sheriff’s office said.

One body was pulled from the water early Sunday and another was recovered in the evening. The third was located Monday, officials said. The sheriff’s office said the men are presumed to have drowned, but the Collin County medical examiner’s office will determine an official cause of death.

No additional information was immediately available.
