Plano’s High Point Tennis Center earns United States Tennis Association award

Plano’s High Point Tennis Center has earned a 2022 Outstanding Facility Award from the United States Tennis Association.

The award recognizes High Point as an exemplary facility with a commitment toward growing and developing tennis in the community.

Player and student participation at High Point consistently tops more than 112,000 sessions of play per year, according to an announcement by the city. That includes group lessons, junior development programs, team and open workouts, intra-facility adult leagues, team play and open play.

High Point also has a full-service pro shop, with an extensive inventory of racquets, apparel, footwear and accessories.

A $5.8 million dollar renovation of High Point, a 43-year-old facility, was completed in 2021.

The renovations included the construction of an 8,000-square-foot, two-story pro shop with a self-serve concession and vending area, 2,000 square feet of covered viewing decks and a social and meeting space with a catering bar.

Other improvements included the construction of new court fences, new sidewalks and the resurfacing of all courts.

Plano voters approved the center’s renovation project through bond referendums in 2013 and 2017. A portion of the project was also funded through the parks and recreation and facilities capital maintenance fund budgets.

The award will be presented at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati on Aug. 16.
