Hot, dry start to August

August begins the same as July ended, with more hot and dry weather. We’re on track for more triple digits this week under mostly sunny skies.

Our streak of rain-free weather at DFW Airport has now reached 58 days, the 2nd longest streak on record. In the past 12 months, DFW has recorded only 23.98″ of rain, a full 13 inches below the normal rainfall of 37.01″.

DFW has also reached 100 degrees 16 consecutive days. The temperature has now reached 100 degrees or higher 36 times this summer. And we just concluded the 2nd hottest July ever recorded for DFW, right after the 6th hottest June. And as we head into August, it appears the heat and drought will both continue for the next few weeks.
