Man fatally shot by woman while retrieving jewelry she had stolen, Fort Worth police say

A man was killed Tuesday when he went to a woman’s house to retrieve jewelry she had stolen from him, Fort Worth police said.

Just before 6:30 p.m., Fort Worth police were called to a shooting in the 5500 block of Goodman Avenue. The man, whose name was not released, had been struck multiple times and was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The woman was taken into custody when officers arrived. Police did not release her name.

Authorities said the two knew each other and that on Saturday the woman hit the victim with a shovel and took some of his jewelry. She called Tuesday and said he could take it back, police said.

When the man arrived with his girlfriend, the woman shot at both of them, police said. The condition of the girlfriend is unclear.

Detectives are still investigating the incident, police said. No other details were made available.
