Rain clears out overnight, grab your warm jacket for the morning!

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Showers and thunderstorms are clearing out of Southeast Texas, and it’s going to get a lot colder by sunrise

Gusty north winds will continue off and on overnight, pushing the wind chill factor into the 30s everywhere by sunrise. Actual temperatures will bottom out in the low-to-mid 40s. Clouds will give way to sunshine, but temperatures will only warm into the mid 50s, about 20 degrees colder than average.

Will the cold air stick around?

Yes, all this week! Behind this front, even colder air will pour in, keeping highs in the 50s and pushing lows into the 30s by the end of the week. It’s even possible for the freeze line to make an early appearance in Southeast Texas, and frost is possible on Friday morning.

How does the weather look for the weekend?

Rain is coming back on Saturday as another cold front pushes into Houston. The rain will clear out for Sunday allowing the sunshine to return. Saturday’s temperatures will bottom out in the mid 40s and warm into the mid 50s. Sunday morning will dip into the 30s and a light freeze and frost is possible in Southeast Texas. Highs will again only warm into the 50s.

What’s the early outlook for Thanksgiving?

At this time Thanksgiving Day is the warmest day we have on our 10 day forecast! The Gulf breeze will return after the weekend, bringing back mild, humid air from the Gulf. This also means there could be some rain on the holiday. For now we expect a morning low near 60 and a high in the low-to-mid 70s. We’ll refine the details as the day approaches.
