Man shot, killed after showing up with mallet where ex-wife was present, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — According to deputies, a man was shot and killed during an argument involving his ex-wife Friday evening in northwest Harris County.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies said they responded to the 27000 block of Kendal Ridge at about 6:20 p.m. after receiving a call of someone being shot.

Deputies said a man had called his ex-wife to discuss picking up a belonging from the home on Kendal Ridge but allegedly made idle threats over the phone.

The man then showed up unannounced with a rubber mallet, smashed the home’s ring doorbell camera, and took it back to his car, HCSO said.

Investigators said the ex-wife’s brother confronted the man before shooting him.

Officials said the ex-husband was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to an earlier tweet by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the ex-husband was allegedly upset about the division of property during divorce proceedings.
