What we know about Dallas shooting that left 4, including a baby, dead in Rylie

What happened?

In a news release Sunday, Dallas police said five people were injured in the shooting, which was reported shortly before 4:30 p.m. in the 9700 block of Royce Drive in southeastern Dallas.

Police on Sunday said three people, all of whom were adults, died at the location. Two minors — a 1-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl — were taken to the hospital, police said, adding that the toddler later died.

Of the five people who were injured in the Sunday shooting, one person — a 15-year-old girl — survived the shooting, according to police.

The girl is believed to be in “stable condition,” according to police.

As of Sunday evening, authorities had not identified the people who died or were injured in the shooting.

Earlier on Sunday, Dallas Fire-Rescue had confirmed to The Dallas Morning News that emergency medical crews had responded to a shooting in the 9700 block of Royce Drive, and said two people had been transported to the hospital.

Was anyone arrested?

Dallas police provided little information about the suspect or suspects related to the fatal shooting.

As of Sunday evening, no suspects were in custody, according to police.

Police have said they believe the shooting was “isolated” and that there is no threat to the public.

According to a KTVT-TV (Channel 11) report, Dallas police said a neighbor of the victims is a suspect in the shooting, but was unable to get independent confirmation.

Where did the shooting occur?

The shooting occurred in the Rylie neighborhood of Dallas, which is in the southeastern portion of the city. Police were called to the northwest side of the neighborhood.

Two other fatal shootings, including one that killed a teen, have occurred less than a mile away from where the Sunday shooting occurred, police have said.

In June, 16-year-old Omar Rosales, was fatally shot in the 1900 block of South St. Augustine Road. A man was also injured in the shooting. And in August, a man, identified by police as Hector Barrios Verdugo, 36, was fatally shot in the 2000 block of Vine Lane.

The neighborhood suffered another tragedy when a 59-year-old man was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, Andrea Garcia, 50, in the 14900 block of Lasater Road.
