Crash involving 18-wheeler shuts down eastbound I-635 near DFW airport

A crash involving an 18-wheeler shut down eastbound Interstate 635 near DFW airport early Friday morning.

According to Grapevine police, the crash occurred on the curve from SH-114 to eastbound I-635. Police said about 4:15 a.m. that the road would be closed for “several hours.”

A photo shared by the department shows the 18-wheeler laying on its side, strewn across at least one lane of traffic and into a grassy median. A large chunk of guardrail appears to have been torn out of the ground.

The driver sustained minor injuries, police said.

“Please plan an alternate route this morning and remind loved ones to slow down and use extra caution on wet roads,” the department wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

No additional information about the crash, including an estimated reopening time, was immediately available.
