Recent rainfall in Fort Worth has resulted in a sanitary sewer overflow within the city’s collection system.
The overflow occurred around 3000 Quail Rd. at approximately 11 a.m. on Saturday. As of 6 a.m. on Sunday, the spill was ongoing at a rate of 75 gallons per minute, according to a report from the City of Fort Worth.
While the overflow does not affect Fort Worth’s drinking water, individuals are advised to refrain from contact with the waste material, soil, or water in the potentially affected area. In case of contact with the affected area, it is recommended to bathe and wash clothes thoroughly as soon as possible.
For those within half a mile of the spill who use private drinking water supply wells, it is advised to only utilize water that has been distilled or boiled for personal use. Individuals with private water wells should consider having them tested and disinfected, if deemed necessary.
