The hockey teams of DPD and Fort Worth Fire competed in a charity game to support first responders

The hockey match at the StarCenter Farmer’s Branch served a greater purpose than just sports—it aimed to raise funds for Dallas Police Sgt. Will Mark’s recovery from a stroke he suffered while on duty last month.

In the game, the Dallas Police hockey team faced off against the Fort Worth Firefighter team, drawing a packed crowd to the stands.

Mark expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, describing it as a bond akin to family. He emphasized the willingness to sacrifice for each other among those present.

Various initiatives, including sales of t-shirts, hats, and raffle tickets for items autographed by Dallas Stars player Jason Robinson, contributed to the fundraising efforts for Mark’s recovery.

Dallas Police Senior Corporal Bill Breakfield highlighted the significance of Robinson’s contributions, emphasizing the impact of collective efforts in supporting Mark’s journey.

Detective Michael Bono of the Dallas Police shared his sentiments, expressing a sense of duty and solidarity with Mark and the larger law enforcement community.

The charity game concluded with the Dallas Police team securing victory over the Fort Worth Firefighters, with a final score of 8-6. The event successfully raised an estimated $4,000 for Sgt. Mark’s cause.

Reflecting on the overwhelming support, Mark expressed humility, acknowledging the emotional significance of the moment.
