The bond for the suspect involved in the State Fair of Texas shooting has been lowered to $350,000

A Dallas County judge has mandated a reduction in the bond for a man accused of firing a gun in a crowded food court at the State Fair of Texas last year.

According to court records, the bond for 22-year-old suspect Cameron Turner of Dallas was decreased from $1.6 million to $350,000 on Thursday, potentially facilitating his release from jail.

Turner faces three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawfully carrying a weapon in prohibited places after purportedly shooting two men and a woman inside the Tower Building food court.

The incident occurred on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023. An arrest warrant from the Dallas Police Department indicated that Turner fled the scene but was promptly apprehended by State Troopers on duty at the fair. A handgun was reportedly recovered from Turner during the arrest.

According to the affidavit, Turner claimed that a group of individuals approached him, prompting him to enter “defensive mode” to safeguard his family. Turner admitted to firing 3 or 4 shots intended for one of the individuals.

Per the affidavit, an officer who apprehended Turner observed a video recording of the incident in the food court. The footage depicted Turner purchasing a bottle of water alone, with several men approaching him from behind.

The affidavit noted that a person named Cade Kelly was seen exchanging words with Turner in the video, though the conversation was not recorded. Kelly did not have anything in his hands and did not make any threatening gestures. Turner allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired at Kelly, injuring two other individuals in the process.

Turner is scheduled to appear for another hearing in the case on Friday, Feb. 16.
