Surveillance footage captured a motorcycle colliding with a school bus in Fort Worth, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist

NBC 5 obtained surveillance video revealing a motorcycle colliding with a school bus in Fort Worth, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist.

The Fort Worth police reported that the crash occurred around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday in the vicinity of 400 Beach St.

While authorities investigate the cause of the fatal incident, witnesses shared with NBC 5 the difficulty they’ve faced trying to erase the memory of what they witnessed.

“It was just terrible honestly to see, just everything that happened this morning,” said Charlene Dives.

Surveillance footage captured from a nearby building depicted a school bus making a left turn across oncoming traffic when suddenly, a motorcycle crashed into the right side of the bus.

Following the impact, the motorcycle ignited in flames, and the rider lay motionless on the road. Shortly after, another motorcyclist arrived at the scene and attempted to move the bike off the fallen rider as other motorists gathered around the scene.

Medstar emergency medical services personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but unfortunately, the rider involved in the crash succumbed to their injuries at the scene, according to the police.

“It was just very heartbreaking,” Dives expressed. “Also seeing the kids get out of the bus, some of them crying, I can only imagine the trauma that they’re going to be going through.”

While Medstar reported that four individuals were aboard the school bus, they did not disclose the breakdown between adults and students.

Fort Worth ISD issued a statement confirming that the school bus, en route to Riverside Middle School, was involved in the accident, but no students or staff sustained injuries. The district’s crisis response team was actively providing counseling to the affected students.

“The district is cooperating fully with authorities to investigate the incident,” the statement concluded.

Surveillance footage showed the school bus driving out of frame following the collision. When asked, Fort Worth police clarified that the bus remained at the scene, and the investigation process would be handled by their Traffic Investigation Unit.

Witnesses emphasized the potential danger posed by the often high-speed traffic in the area, especially with the presence of school buses, city buses, and various other vehicles passing through.

As of now, neither the motorcycle rider nor the school bus driver has been identified. NBC 5 will continue to monitor for any charges filed in connection with this investigation.
