An FBI agent in Houston has been indicted on theft charges, alleging that he stole money from residences targeted in raids

In Houston, Texas, a former FBI special agent from the Houston Field Office has been indicted on theft charges. Nicholas Anthony Williams, 36 years old, was arrested following allegations of stealing government and personal property from homes during FBI raids.

According to U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani, Williams is accused of taking money or items from multiple homes between March 2022 and July 2023 while executing search warrants as an FBI special agent. He allegedly used the money and property for personal purposes.

Williams also purportedly stole several cell phones belonging to the FBI and provided false statements regarding fraudulent charges on his government-issued credit card.

The indictment indicates that Williams has been employed as a special agent since 2019, serving in the criminal violent gang and counterterrorism squads.

The FBI has not clarified whether Williams remains employed or if he has been placed on administrative leave.

If convicted, Williams could face up to 10 years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.
