Family says they found 74-year-old bleeding in stairwell hours after management ‘swept the building’

In northeast Houston, a 74-year-old man named Louis Redmon was discovered seriously injured in the stairwell of his apartment complex, Leo Daniels Tower, on Harrell Street.

Family members received a call on Monday morning from another resident reporting Redmon’s medical distress. Concerned, his daughter Monique Gordon and granddaughter Brande Reed rushed to the mid-rise building.

Despite numerous attempts to reach Redmon, they received no response. After speaking with apartment management, who promised to search the building, the family began their own search in nearby locations where Redmon frequented.

Upon returning to the complex around 5 p.m., they decided to conduct another search themselves. It was during this search that Reed found Redmon on the fifth-floor stairwell, severely injured and surrounded by blood.

Disturbing images shared by Reed revealed the severity of Redmon’s injuries, prompting questions about the building’s surveillance and search protocols.

Expressing anger and frustration, Gordon emphasized the need for better protocols, especially for elderly residents like her father.

Despite management’s refusal to allow ABC13 on the premises for inquiries, the family demands answers. Redmon was subsequently transported to Ben Taub Hospital by ambulance, where the Houston Police Department filed a report and initiated an investigation into the incident.

While the nature of the incident remains unclear, family members wish Redmon had been found sooner to receive prompt medical attention.
