12-year-old girl killed when she was ejected from car on SH-99 on way home to Conroe, sheriff says

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported on Monday morning that a tragic accident occurred on Highway 99 at West Road, resulting in the death of a 12-year-old girl who was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

According to Sheriff Gonzalez’s statement on X, the incident involved a 36-year-old woman who was driving when her vehicle veered off the road and struck a cable barrier system, causing it to roll over.

Tragically, the woman’s 12-year-old niece, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and was found deceased at the scene.

In addition to the driver and the deceased girl, there were four other occupants in the vehicle, including the driver’s 56-year-old mother, and children aged 1, 3, and 16. The 16-year-old sustained a broken clavicle and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Sheriff Gonzalez stated that the driver, who was returning home to Conroe after a weekend trip to San Antonio, cooperated with the investigation and showed no signs of intoxication. She is the aunt of the deceased girl.
